Renault Duster 4×4 India launch by October 2014
One of the best selling SUVs in India available at a starting price of under Rs 10 lakhs, Renault Duster will soon get the much awaited 4×4 variant. At the Delhi Auto Expo, Renault India had confirmed Duster 4×4 India launch, and now it is revealed that the launch could take place as early as October 2014.
To be offered with only the top end diesel 110 PS variant, Duster 4×4 launch is expected to give a boost to its sales, which have registered a decline recently. First launched back in July 2012 with petrol and diesel engine options, the last few months saw Duster sales average at about 3,500 units, as compared to the earlier average of over 5,000 units.
The decline in sales is because of a decline in buyer sentiment which is currently experienced by entire Indian auto industry. But this is soon expected to change. With a stable government now in power, car manufacturers including Renault have planned a series of new launches and aggressive growth plans for the coming years.
Renault Duster 4×4 will be a part of this plan. To be manufactured at Renaul-Nissan plant in Chennai, the new Duster 4×4 is already being manufactured, but only for exports. In the UK, the Duster 4×4 is priced at about Ā£14,995. In India, expect it to be priced at about Rs 13 lakhs, which is Rs 1+ lakhs more than the 4×2 110 PS diesel variant.
Globally, Renault has sold more than 10 lakh Duster SUVs till date, of which , India has contributed over 1 lakh units while France has its tally at 1.5 lakh units
