Renault Duster AWD launch in India on 24 Sept

Renault Duster, which as on date is only offered as a Front Wheel Drive variant, will soon receive its AWD variant, both of which will bear striking similarities yet distinctly different from each other. Called Renault Duster AWD, the 4×4 will come in an expected price bracket of Rs 10.50-12 lakhs. It will be distinguished from its 4×2 counterpart with ‘AWD’ decals on its exterior besides smoked headlights and gun metal finished alloy wheels. Duster AWD will also receive better equipment than its 4×2 models. It will be seen sporting traction control, cruise control, speed limiter, gear shift indication, ambient temperature gauge and fuel efficiency display. Duster AWD also receives infotainment features in the form of 2 DIN audio system with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity while safety features will include ABS, EBD, Brake Assist and dual front airbags.

Duster AWD system sports three modes – 2WD, Auto and 4WD Lock. The 4WD auto modes work upto 60 kmph after which it automatically shifts to Auto Mode with sharing of power between the two axles. Ground clearance has been increased by 5mm and now stands at 210 mm as against 205mm as seen on the front wheel drive model while fuel efficiency is pegged at 19.72 kmpl.

Interiors of Renault Duster AWD will be seen with a sportier steering wheel, three pod instrument cluster and sporty seats done up in red and grey color combination. Central console is the same as seen on board Renault Duster Adventure Edition. Powering the Duster AWD will be a 1.5 liter diesel motor generating 110 PS peak power and 248 Nm peak torque mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. Once launched, Duster AWD will compete with Tata Safari Storme 4×4 and Mahindra Scorpio 4X4.
