Renault Duster India sales for Feb 2013 are its best yet

Renault India sales for the month of February 2013 stood at 6,723 units, which is a ten fold increase compared to what they sold in corresponding month previous year. The increase in sales is majorly because of their SUV Duster, which was launched back in July 2012.

Of the total 6,723 units sold during the last month, 5,590 units belonged to Duster, 65 to Fluence, 28 to Koleos, 420 to Pulse, and 620 to Scala. Feb 2013 was also the month when Renault India registered their second highest sales, after Nov 2012, when they registered sales of 6,790 units. As far as Duster SUV sales are concerned, Feb 2013 saw the most number of Duster’s getting on road. The previous best was in October 2012, when 5,406 units were sold.

Duster sales might be affected in the coming months. Firstly, because of the launch of Ford EcoSport, and secondly due to the increase of excise duty on SUVs in Budget 2013. The effect of budget 2013′s excise duty price hike will spare the diesel variant of Duster, but the petrol variant will have to be subject to the new duty. Base variant of Duster is currently priced from INR 7.7 lakhs, ex-showroom.
