Renault Duster SUV outsells Mahindra Scorpio and XUV500: Tested by Red Bull F1 driver Mark Webber in Oman

Renault Duster is the new SUV in India which has kept everyone talking. This SUV has been received exceptionally well in the Indian auto industry. Launched back in July this year for a starting price of Rs 7.19 lakhs, the new Renault Duster now features in the list of top 15 cars sold in India. Even though Renault announced a price increase of upto Rs 40,000 on the Duster, there is no way that they or their customers are experiencing a hiccup.

Last month, Renault India sold 5,406 units of Duster, which makes it the second best selling car in the segment after Mahindra Bolero (not considering Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova). Mahindra sold 4,681 and 4,320 units of Scorpio and XUV500 respectively.

Apart from India, Renault Duster is also available in other auto markets around the globe. In markets where Renault is not present, Duster is sold by Dacia, a Renault owned Romanian vehicle manufacturer. In the UK, Dacia Duster became the cheapest SUV with a launch price of £8,995.

Earlier this week, Renault, engine supplier to Red Bull Formula One Team, invited Mark Webber to test the Duster 1.5L 4×4 diesel SUV in the deserts of Oman. Webber who had a disastrous weekend in Abu Dhabi, seemed quite relaxed when driving the Renault Duster. Mark Webber was surprisingly impressed with the way the Renault Duster tackled the desert sand.
