Renault India plans three new UVs to take on Mahindra, including XUV500 rival

After taking on Maruti and Hyundai in the entry level segment with the launch of new Renault Kwid, French auto major now has set plans to take on their old partner Mahindra in the UV segment. As per a new report from ET Auto, the company has planned a slew of new launches in the UV segment, which will help them increase their market share in India.

The first of these UVs will be a seven seater SUV (codenamed HHA) which will sit above the company’s existing compact SUV – Duster. It will be a seven seater full size SUV, which will mainly rival the Mahindra XUV500, upcoming Tata Hexa and Honda B-RV in India.

Before the launch of new gen Duster in 2018, Renault India will launch Duster facelift in 2016.

This new Renault HHA SUV will be built on the globally successful Renault Captur design language. It is built on the Dacia Logan’s M0-B platform, and will be sharing a lot of parts with existing Duster and Lodgy. This will help Renault to launch the car faster and price it aggressively.

Post the launch of HHA, Renault plans to launch the new generation Duster SUV in 2018. After this, the company will launch a new compact SUV and a compact MPV. These will be based on the CMF-A platform, the same platform which underpins the new Renault Kwid and the upcoming Datsun compact SUV. Both these UVs will be placed below the Duster SUV and Lodgy MPV respectively, in the company line-up. Price will be ranging from INR 5-10 lakh.

With the launch of these new UVs, Renault India aims to achieve their long term plan of having oa market share of 5% in India.
