Renault India sells 35,052 cars in 2012: 23,701 belongs to Duster SUV

Renault India sold a total of 35,052 units during the entire calendar year 2012. Sales exclusively for the month of December stood at 5,924 units while the company sold just 1401 units during the months of June to December 2011. December sales of 5,924 units comprised of Duster – 4,485 units, Scala – 820 units, Pulse – 515 units, Fluence – 68 units and Koleos – 36 units.

Sales during the same month in 2011 accounted for 145 units of Fluence and 40 units of Koleos. The past 12 months has seen launch of three new models while dealerships have also expanded to close to 100 dealerships. The launch od Duster SUV has been the game changer for Renault in India. Of the 35,052 cars sold in 2012, Duster sales contributes 23,701 units, and that too, the SUV was introduced in July 2012.

Following these results, the company is looking ahead at 2013 with confidence despite sluggish market conditions, high level of inflation, constant fuel price rises and high interest rates. Renault India currently sells five models including the compact car Pulse, SUV Duster and Scala sedan. The most popular of the lineup is the Duster which had made a maximum contribution in establishing Renault in India.
