Mr. Marc Nassif, Managing Director of Renault India Pvt. Ltd has announced that Renault is working on launching a new passenger small car in India which will be priced below Rs 4 lakh in the Indian auto industry. After launching cars beyond the Rs.4 lakh limit, Renault India now wants to enter the most competitive segment in the Indian auto industry, small car industry.
In India most passenger small cars are in the Rs. 2 lakh to Rs.4 lakh price bracket, while the Pulse diesel variant which the company launched in January is priced between Rs. 5.77 lakhs to Rs.6.25 lakhs. Now with plans to launch more cars in the sub Rs.4 lakh range, the company has set targets of selling at least one lakh cars annually, which should be achieved by 2013-14.
Renault is also increasing their dealer network to 100, in order to reach out to more car buyers in India. Renault will be bringing in 5 new cars, out of which three have already been launched, Fluence sedan, Koleos SUV and Pulse hatchback. Renault now plans to launch Duster SUV and another sedan in India by the end of this year.
