Renault Lodgy MPV was launched in India back in early 2015. The aim was to offer Indian consumers a more affordable option to the likes of Toyota Innova. In spite of pricing the car aggressively, the 7/8 seater from Renault India failed to find many takers.
Soon Renault India announced some special editions to boost sales, but that too did not get expected results. Not giving up on the product, Renault has now announced the Lodgy Stepway range across the Lodgy lineup. This new range comes with 16 new feature.
The differences come in the form of visual enhancements such as more sophisticated front grille, rugged looking bumpers with silver skid plates, lower body black plastic cladding (with chrome insert on door cladding), branded door sills, anthracite finish for alloy wheels and ‘Stepway’ badge.
Lodgy Stepway is powered by the 1.5-litre dCi four-cylinder diesel engine which is available in both 85 PS and 11- PS tunes. The 85 PS variant is mated to a 5 speed MT while the 110 PS variant is mated to a 6-speed MT. There are no enhancements to the interiors and Stepway is available in both 7 and 8 seat variants. RxZ’s equipment list includes foglights, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, touchscreen infotainment system and reverse parking sensor.
Renault Lodgy Stepway competes with the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Honda BR-V, and Toyota Innova Crysta. The Duster-based people carrier would bank on its lengthy features list, fuel efficiency and rugged add-ons to make a strong case for itself.
