Renault Scala Automatic sedan announced with 17.97 kmpl

Renault India has added the option of automatic gearbox to the Scala sedan. Renault Scala automatic will be available in RXL and RXZ petrol variants. The Scala AT comes with Continuous Variable Transmission which offers not only better fuel economy but performance is also enhanced, while cost of ownership is considerably reduced as compared to conventional automatic unit.

The new Scala automatic offers ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 17.97 kmpl, thus making it one of the most fuel efficient automatic sedans in the country as on date. Stop and go traffic situations in the country have seen an increased demand for automatic sedans in recent times. The Scala AT is expected to come in at prices ranging from Rs.10.5 lakhs to Rs.11.5 lakhs. These two variants will be equipped with X tronic transmission system and will be powered a 1.5 liter petrol engine offering 100.6 hp at 5600 rpm and 134 Nm torque at 4000 rpm.

Speaking on the occasion, Marc NASSIF – MD, Renault India Pvt. Ltd. said, “With more and more cars on the road as well as frequent stop-and-go traffic, India has been seeing an increase in demand for automatic sedans in recent years. However, despite the growing interest for these cars, petrol automatic vehicles are still limited to a 6% share in the premium sedan segment because they deliver lower mileage and higher cost of ownership”.
