Renault Scala was introduced in Indian market in September 2012 at price range of Rs. 6.99 – Rs. 7.85 lakhs for petrol version and Rs. 8.69 – Rs. 9.57 lakhs for diesel variant. Due to dull sales, Renault launched a new diesel powered base variant RxE in June 2013 at price of Rs. 8.29 lakhs (ex-showroom).
In June 2014, Renault launched Scala Travelogue Edition RXL petrol, at price of Rs. 8.47 lakhs, offering enhanced infotainment, connectivity and convenience features. But owing to heavy competition in segment from Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, Fiat Linea, Ford Fiesta and Nissan Sunny facelift, Renault Scala is barely surviving and they are going to launch Scala facelift to put the spacious sedan out there on the map yet again.
Upgrades would be purely cosmetic, as seen in Nissan Sunny facelift, and minor tweaking in powertrain department can be expected to better mileage and NVH levels. Ornamental alterations would include redesigned headlamps, reshaped front grille / fascia, new accents in front fog lamp region, fresh set of alloy wheels, newly designed ORVM with integrated blinkers, touched up tail lights and brushed up boot lid & rear bumpers.
Interiors of Renault Scala facelift would receive new chrome finished door handles, piano black centre console decor, 5.1 surround sound music system with large display to show reverse camera visual, redesigned gear shift knob (Manual Transmission), new steering wheel structure with audio controls, leather upholstery & steering wheel wrap job, reading lights for rear occupants and fine vision meter with Multi Information Display (MID) in instrument cluster.
