Renault to launch Nissan Evalia based MPV in next two years
Renault India, makers of SUVs Koleos, and Duster, sedans Fluence, Scala and small car Pulse have announced two new models which are scheduled to make their presence felt in the next 24 months. These upcoming models will include a multipurpose vehicle and a small car. While the small car will be based on a Common Module Family Affordable (CMF-A) platform, the MPV will be based on the Nissan Evalia.
Renault India, headquartered in Chennai has production facility in Chennai. It is from here that these models will be produced. Renault India executive director (marketing) Sumit Sawhney says, ”Renault India has introduced five products in 18-20 months. The next 24 months will see introduction of two products and consolidation of the market. We are the fastest growing nameplate in the country with sales of 35,000 units in the second year of operation. We will continue to target doubling the volume year-on-year though the environment in the current year is extremely challenging. The automotive market is down 10% while the MUV/SUV market crashed 18% in July.”
