We drove Maruti Eeco & in the auto verdict we arrived at conclusion the Eeco to be a value for money multi utility vehicle. A bigger version for Omni.
Built Quality?
The built quality is not up to the mark, the door panels are very simple, dash board & steering also seems to be of OK quality. The windows are not powered. Yes but the van is priced so cheap that we can forget all this. The target audience is to be a Tourist vehicle, School bus or an ambulance can be built in.
Capacities & Performance?
The 3.67m long Eeco is available in two variants 5 seater & 7 seater. The rear wheel drive Eeco turns to a short radius of 4.5m. The van comes under C segment. The Eeco is driven by 1196ccc engine which produces 73bhp of raw power at 6000rpm and a high torque of 101Nm@3000rpm. The engine is married to 5 speed transmission.
Need of an Eeco?
The need of Eeco arise to Maruti since Versa is not a cheaper solution at the same time Omni's engine doesn't have an enough reserved torque to cater the parasitic loses of an air-conditioning system.
Pricing:
2.6 Lakhs to 2.8 lakhs ex showroom Pune.
We say:
Eeco is the cheapest utility vehicle available in India in its class.
