What it is:
The most awaited Volkswagen finally enters into the market. Yes, you are right I mean "POLO".
In 1980's the way Japanese automaker Suzuki launched Maruti 800 with a great confidence, Volkswagen has brought in German technology for India's common man in the form of a hatchback. There is a striking coincidence that Polo came at the same time when Maruti is phasing out 800 from the market and handing over the Torch to Volkswagen.
Well enough of BS, time will speak up on this.
VW has come up with the car within the reach of a common Man. Common in the sense who can afford to buy a 1.2 litre Hatch back of any make available in India. VW India started with premium cars Passat / Jetta in India.
Polo is priced just right to compete with other hatchbacks in India. Owning a German technology car is always a pride as we know them for their technology, built quality, reliability from all angles.
The all new POLO comes in 3 variants 1.2L Petrol & Diesel & 1.6 Litre Diesel. All come in 3 variants i.e Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline.
Outer impression:
The Polo is beautifully crafted and boasts of stunning exteriors. They say that the car is built for the long haul and designed to endure i.e an ageless design.
The front grille is thin which starts from the edge of the headlamp & reaches up to the shining Crome logo at the center. The headlamps are clear with the conventional circumference however the focus inside is detailed so well that it will definitely catch your attention. The clear Tail Lamp goes well with the boot blended perfectly to radiate elegance.
The car stands on 15 inch (Highline) alloy wheels with 185/60 R15 tyres. The wheel trims feature a robust seven spoke design, adding a sporty touch. However the Range below highline comes with the 14" wheel rim & spoked wheel caps.
Ambience and theme:
The beauty is stretched whole heartedly to 4 meters & wide enough to 1.7 meters which gives you a feel of Sedan. The car speaks of its built quality. The high quality duel colour dashboard is detailed in an elegant way. The electronic multifunction display provides information on current & average fuel consumption. The central locking controls the door lock as well as the side windows.
The steering wheel resembles to that of Maruti Swift to some extent. The Fuel is digital in nature.
On the road:
CAUTION : When you drive it for the first time, make sure you look at the shifting lever closely as the reverse gear is positioned parallel to 1st gear before it.
The baby is made to rule the road. The car covers 0-100 in 11.1 sec minimum to 14.4 sec max depending on the variant you are driving.
The Powertrain is blessed with different strength of engines.
1.2L Petrol POLO is equipped with 3 cylinder engine producing 55kW of max power & max torque of 110Nm.
1.2L Diesel POLO is equipped with 3 cylinder engine producing 55kW of max power & max torque of 180Nm
1.6L Petrol POLO is equipped with 4 cylinder engine producing 77kW of max power & max torque of 153Nm
All the engines are married to 5 + R speed manual transmissions. Thus you have option to choose the one that fits your driving style. The perfect ground clearance of 168mm gives you a comfortable view. The car is stable above 100kmph too thus the power train & aerodynamics are married to each other.
