Premier Automobiles is doing rather well with about 2000 bookings for their SUV, Premier RiO priced at Rs 5.25-5.95 lakh. Ten years ago, the SUV was launched as the Daihatsu Terios and then manufacturing rights went to Zotye Auto that sells about 100,000 of these vehicles p.a. and Premier with its new deal can sell the SUV in India.
North Indian dealerships are on the agenda followed by Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Goa. A booking can be confirmed for Rs. 5000 and their positive response from this yearsAuto expo calls for exploring North Indian cities.
Premier Ltd. made it's re-entry in the Indian passenger vehicle market with the RiO, a compact SUV and aims to cater to the segment between mid-size passenger cars and larger utility vehicles. It's powered with Premier's 1489cc turbo diesel engine (Peugeot technology) and can deliver 65BHP approx. Fuel efficiency estimates are tagged at 16 km/litre. The SUV is being offered in red, white, silver, black, and blue. This compact SUV also boasts of power steering, front power windows, central locking, CD/MP3 player, foldable split rear seats for multiple seating options and high ground clearance. Variants include A/C, non-A/C, and models with anti-lock breaking system (ABS) and alloy wheels as added features. They already boast of 30 dealers and hope to reach the 100 mark soon enough. They're also offering a 3 yr warranty on the RiO.

- RiO Ex: Base model: Rs. 5.25 lakh
- RiO DX: Rs. 5.50 lakhs
- RiO Lx: Rs 5.95 lakh, ex-showroom Pune
The RiO works out to be Rs.1.5 lakh cheaper in comparison to SUVs on the Indian auto market. Car delivery will start in December 2009 and dealership displays in November.
