Rolls-Royce to set up first showroom in Cambodia
On Monday, Rolls Royce Motor Cars announced their entry into Cambodia, one of the world’s poorest country. The company has entered into an agreement and signed a deal with HGB Group Co., Ltd. The new showroom will come up by the end of this year.
The entry of Rolls Royce into Cambodia is noteworthy as the luxury automakers believe that the demand for luxury car will increase on parallel lines as the country’s economy where per capita income currently stands at just $1000 which is just .5% of the cost of the cheapest Rolls Royce model.
The very thought of a luxury brand such as Rolls Royce coming to a country like Cambodia would have been unheard of. However, considering upgradation of roads and rise in standard of living is drawing the attention of some luxury automakers. The new Rolls Royce showroom opens next month in the Cambodian capital Phom Penh. Ray Long, MD of HGB Group confirmed the opening of this 4 car showroom along with after sales service facility by end of this year.
Paul Harris, Regional Manager Asia Pacific at Rolls Royce has already inked the deal with HGB Group with a strong belief that the country is on the brink of improving its economy which in turn could see growing demand for luxury cars. There are at present 10 Rolls Royce cars in the country with 5 units sold since 2005.
