Scania reveals new range at Bus World India 2013, Mumbai
To help boost mobility infrastructure in India, Scania has revealed a new bus and coach, range specifically designed for Indian markets. These new Scania buses were on display at the 2013 Bus World India in Mumbai.
These services will be offered in three categories that are divided based on chassis and modular design. The three categories include a Scania Metrolink HD 45 seater, HD 49 seater and HD 53 seater along with a whole range of service packages and contracts that are backed by its service network. These coaches are outfitted with a Scania 9-litre 310 hp Euro 3¬†engine coupled to a Scania Opticruise 8-speed automated gear changing module (HD 45 seater), a¬†Scania 13-litre 360 hp Euro 3 engine (HD 49 seater) and a Scania 13-litre 410 hp Euro 3 engine (HD 53 seater). All these engines are coupled to a Scania Opticruise 8- speed automated gear changing module for improved driver and passenger safety.
Over the next 5 years, Scania is looking to sell over 1,000 coaches and 2,000 trucks in the Indian market. It will also be setting a facility 40 km away from Bengaluru for production of these units.

Scania Metrolink HD 45-seater -¬†This is a 12-metre 4×2 model with 45 seats, a Scania 9-litre 310 hp Euro 3 engine, Scania Opticruise 8-speed automated gearchanging. The vehicle is 2.6 m wide, 3.7 m high and fitted with a 465-litre fuel tank.
Scania Metrolink HD 49-seater -¬†13.7-metre 6×2 model with 49 semi-sleeper seats (or 53 without calf support), a Scania 13-litre 360 hp Euro 3 engine, Scania Opticruise 8-speed automated gearchanging. The third axle is hydraulically steered for easy manoeuvring. The vehicle is 2.6 m wide, 3.7 m high and fitted with a 465-litre fuel tank.
Scania Metrolink HD 53-seater -¬†This is a 14.5-metre high-capacity 6×2 model featuring 53 semi-sleeper seats (or¬†57 without calf support). It has the Scania 13-litre 410 hp Euro 3 engine, Scania¬†Opticruise 8-speed automated gearchanging. The third axle is hydraulically¬†steered for easy¬†maneuvering. The vehicle is 2.6 m wide, 3.7 m high and fitted with a 465-litre fuel tank.
