Scoop: Upcoming Mahindra launches – Mojo 300, Gusto based 125cc scooter, Gixxer rivalling 150cc motorcycle
Following foray into mass market / commuter segment with launch of new Centuro variants and brand new 110 cc scooter Gusto, Mahindra Two Wheelers Limited is planning a blitzkrieg in higher segments.
Their first attack will be on the growing entry-level pure performance motorcycle segment between Rs. 1 and Rs. 2 lakh, or technically the 200 cc to 300 cc class.
Their product is nothing but Mahindra Mojo, set to launch by April 2014. Price of Mahindra Mojo will be around Rs. 1.6 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Final prototype is ready, has been spied testing a couple of times. Trial production of Mahindra Mojo should begin in a few weeks at the company’s Pithampur plant, which has the capacity to assemble around 4,50,000 units per annum on three shifts.

MTWL’s second product launch for 2015 will be a new 125 cc scooter based on Gusto’s platform. The 125 cc engine for the new scooter will be a derivative of 110 cc engine powering Gusto, which was developed by the company from scratch. Mahindra’s upcoming 125 cc offering will have completely new style (body panels) but will share notable features of Gusto, like height adjustable seat, numerous utility solutions, remote functions on key fob, telescopic fork and large (12 inch) wheels. This product, set to launch in mid-2015, will serve as a megaphone to announce MTWL’s ambition to take down top players in scooter market – Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
