Self driving car revealed by Oxford University
Self driving car revealed by Oxford University. RobotCar as it is more aptly called is adapted from Nissan Leaf electric that consists of inbuilt lasers and cameras.
These take the place of human eyes as they offer a 3D route to drivers which are available through the computers. The vehicles are then put into autodrive just by tapping on the iPad. The vehicle stops slowly when noting an obstruction on the street ahead while drivers can once again control the vehicle just by tapping on the brakes. It has taken the Oxford University team a lot of time in perfecting this ‘hands off’ technology which will be seen on mainstream cars of the future.
The intelligent car can also remember roads and suburbs taking the driver effortlessly through these familiar courses via an iPad on the dashboard. A laser can scan the direction of travel 13 times per second and upto 164 ft ahead and at an 85 degree angle.
