September 2015 Two Wheeler Sales Report: Hero, Honda, TVS, Bajaj, Yamaha, Royal Enfield, Suzuki, Mahindra

Hero MotoCorp

Sales of country’s largest two wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp reported growth for September 2015. Hero MotoCorp sales during the month stood at 6,06,744 units as compared to sales of 6,04,052 units in September 2014. This increased sales allowed the company to maintain its share in domestic motorcycle market at 52%.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India

Sales of HMSI declined marginally during September 2015. Sales of the company which stood at 438,479 in September 2014 fell to 430,732 units in the last month. Scooter sales were led by Activa which grew by 9.6% YoY with 264,385 units sold as compared to 241,124 units sold in September 2014. Honda Activa became the highest selling two wheeler in India, overtaking Hero Splendor which saw a decline of 2% in overall domestic sales.

TVS Motors

Two and three wheeler makers TVS Motors also suffered decline in sales to the tune of 1.67%. The company sold 232,775 units in September 2015 as compared to 236,751 units in September 2014. Of these, 221,002 units were two wheelers, and remaining were three wheelers. In the domestic market TVS sold 190,094 units, as against 203,755 units sold in September 2014.

Bajaj Auto

Bajaj registered sales of 3,30,228 units during September 2015. As compared to September 2014, when the company sold 3,47,010 units, sales declined by 5%. Surprisingly, Bajaj Auto, which is also the largest two wheeler exporter, registered decline in exports as well. In Sep 2015 they exported 1,73,801 units, as against 1,74,211 units exported in the same month last year.

India Yamaha Motors

Sales of Yamaha Motors in September were up 13.38%. Domestic sales stood at 67,267 units in the past month as compared to sales of 59,325 units in September 2014 while exports increased 29% from 12,067 units in September 2014 to 15,612 units in September 2015. The company now looks ahead to the upcoming festive season, recent launches and innovative customer connected programs to see record sales in the next three months of this year.

Royal Enfield

The two wheeler arm of Eicher Motors reported an increase of 59% in sales during September 2015. Sales of the company stood at 44,491 units over the corresponding period last year when sales stood at 28,020 units. In the domestic market, the company sold 43,741 units as compared to 27,540 units in the same month last year.

Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd

Mahindra Two Wheelers sales for the month of September 2015 stood at 19,069 units with domestic sales at 17,174 units and exports at 1,895 units. Sales in September 2014 – 16,619 units in domestic market and 946 units exported.

Suzuki Motorcycles India are yet to reveal their sales figures.
