SIM Drive Corporation, an auto company founded in 2009 by Keio University of Japan has announced that they are ready to reveal latest development in electric vehicles. The company will be revealing SIM-LEI EV which stands for Leading Efficiency in wheel. The car was first supposed to be launched on 29th March 2011 but unfortunately that coincided with massive earthquake that struck Japan which delayed launch.
A novel feature of this electric vehicle is that unlike other electric vehicles that have one single electric engine, this car will sport four small electric motors placed in each wheel. One attribute that deserves mention is that this car can travel upto 206 miles on a single recharge and that too in city precincts.
This can go down to 189 miles at a constant speed of 60 mph. These four individual electric motors can impel the vehicle from 0 to 62 miles per hour in a matter of 4.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 93 mph. Production is expected to commence early next year while the company has not yet revealed its price. One disadvantage however, is that SIM LEI EV will be exclusively for Japanese customers and it is doubtful that the car will be seen in any other markets of the world.
