Skoda Rapid and Citigo arives at the Istanbul International Auto Show: Launched in Turkey simultaneously

Skoda announced the launch of their new compact sedan, Rapid and small car Citigo in Turkey. Simultaneously, at the 2012 Istanbul International Auto Show, sceduled to go live from the 1st November, Skoda Auto will premiere the Rapid and Citigo for the first time in Turkey. Skoda Citigo and Rapid can be experienced Live at the 14th edition of Istanbul International Auto Show from 1st Nov to 11th Nov 2012, at the 890 sqm Skoda Pavilion in Hall 12.

Skoda car sales in Turkey are on the rise, just like their sales everywhere else. In Turkey auto industry, Skoda registered a staggering 30.4% increase in sales figures for the period from January – September 2012. Their total market share in the Turkish car industry, increased from 1.3% a year ago to 1.9% this year, Skoda Octavia being the most popular model in the country.

Winfried Vahland, CEO Skoda, says, “In the years ahead, Škoda intends to continue to grow worldwide. Turkey is an important growth market and thus a significant element of our 2018 growth strategy. With the new Škoda Rapid and the Škoda Citigo, we want to enhance our position in the market substantially and sustain our favourable development in Turkey resolutely.”

“The Rapid is the new class of Škoda, and it will set standards in the compact saloon segment,” says Werner Eichhorn, ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and Marketing. The Škoda Rapid complements the Škoda model palette between the smaller Škoda Fabia and the larger Škoda Octavia. “It is a perfect car for the whole family, and it is sure to become extremely popular, especially with Turkish customers,” says Eichhorn. The engine offering in Turkey will include a total of four petrol and two diesel engines.
