Skoda Rapid with new features spied testing in India
Launched back in November 2011, Skoda Rapid is due for a midlife facelift. But sadly, there isn’t going to be any. Instead, Skoda will launch a new Rapid limited edition variant in India.
This new Skoda Rapid special edition will feature modifications on the outside and inside. As far as exteriors are concerned, Skoda Rapid SE will have black alloys, black grille, black side view mirrors and even new projector headlamps with black inserts. From the spy shot, not much of the interiors can be see, but be sure that on the inside as well there will be plenty of black. You can notice the black headrest on the seats in the image above.
As far as engine options is concerned, Skoda will continue to offer the same 1.6l petrol and diesel engines generating 105 PS power in both. But, there is a chance that Skoda might introduce the new 1.5l diesel engine with DSG gearbox with this Rapid Black Edition. VW Group has been testing this engine for quite some time in India, and is expected to be introduced in the Polo and Vento later this year.
Considering that the Skoda Rapid is built on the Vento platform, there is a huge possibility that it will get the same engine treatment. Price of Skoda Rapid ranges from Rs 7 to 10 lakhs today. Expect the new Special Edition variant to cost around Rs 40k more than existing variants respectively.
