Skoda SUV based on VW MQB platform confirmed for 2016

Skoda has announced the launch of a new SUV which will make its presence felt in 2016. The new Skoda SUV will be offered with best in class power and performance, keeping in line with other Skoda cars in the line-up.

Slated to be larger than Tiguan, better equipped as compared to CrossBlue and a keen competitor to Hyundai Santa Fe, the upcoming Skoda SUV will be based on the Volkswagen MQB platform. Not yet christened, the upcoming SUV will be offered in options of five or seven seater configurations and with either front wheel or all wheel drive systems. It will measure 4.6 meters in length. The new SUV is currently in design stage at the Skoda Design Studio.

The new model will be unrestrained with it comes to power and unparalleled when it comes to refinement. Engine lineup could include a 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engine or a 1.6 liter turbodiesel while a diesel electric hybrid engine is also a possibility. Skoda has hinted the inclusion of Australian markets for this upcoming SUV which will have a boot space of 380 liters. Besides this new SUV, Skoda is also planning another SUV which will be similar in size to the Skoda Yeti. This upcoming model will form a part of the Yeti family with a more traditional SUV design.
