Skoda Auto India is vehemently working towards their Yeti SUV launch in the latter half of the year. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to provide a facelift to the Fabia in India, while most likely keeping with the same engine options. Focus at the moment lies with the Yeti launch, and considerations for a refurbished Fabia are secondary.
Proposed changes for the Fabia:
- Exterior vertical lines replaced with horizontal
- Additional new exterior colours and wheels
- Changes in the interior
For petrol engines, the standard 1.2/44 kW, and 1,2/51 kW, a supercharged 1.2 TSI with 63 kW and 77 kW performance variants will be visible. More power can be guaranteed with the seven-speed dual clutch automatic DSG transmission system that replaces the 6°automatic Tiptronic. The Indian Fabia is likely to remain marooned from such engine modifications, as manufacturing costs are rather high.
The foreign market has been provided a new range of diesel engines. This includes:
- three-cylinder 1.2 TDI CR with an output of 55 kW
- four-cylinder 1.6 TDI CR/55 kW
- 1.6 TDI CR with 66 and 77 kW performance variants
Diesel variants are using the rail fuel injection system and a DPF fixed particle filter. Petrol and diesel engines comply with current EU 5 emission norms. Fabia was bought to the country by Skoda India in 2007. The car failed in comparison to the Octavia owing to dealer problems, and steep prices , coupled with the fact that Skoda is trying hard to be noticeable in the luxury marquee.
