Skoda Yeti Xtreme to premiere at 33rd Volkswagen GTI tuning fest (Images updated)

Skoda yeti Xtreme to premiere and participate in this year’s GTI event at Wörthersee in Austria. This will be the company’s fifth time to take part in the festival. Skoda will also introduce the Citijet concept, built by Skoda apprentices. The 33rd GTI tuning event by Volkswagen will see around 200,000 fans attending the event in Reifnitz, Austria, between 28th and 31st May 2014.

skoda yeti xtreme live imagesSkoda has modded its Yeti compact SUV into a capable rally car for this event. It is powered by 1.8 litre TSI engine producing 150 hp max. power and 250 Nm peak torque. The Yeti Xtreme sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in 9 seconds, and goes up to 192 kmph.

Large off-road tyres, 17 inch alloy wheels, Skoda Octavia RS brakes and height adjustable chassis are also part of major functional mods done to Yeti Xtreme. In looks department, the racy Yeti features LED headlights, large air intake, showy bumpers, tinted side windows, highlighted roof & wheel rim motifs and wide exhaust pipes. Apart from a spare wheel, the boot is loaded with special traction mats called recovery tracks. These are meant to be used to help the Yeti roll out of mud pit when it gets stuck.

Skoda Yeti Xtreme-002Yeti Xtreme’s interior receives rally inspired design and equipments. Four independent Recaro sports seats with four point safety harness and super sport steering wheel with paddle shifters are seen in the cabin. Other trims in interior panels are made with aluminium and carbon fibre plastic.

ŠKODA Yeti Xtreme – as a dynamic and powerful compact SUV concept – demonstrates the brand’s strong expertise in four-wheel drive technology, as well as our know-how when it comes to rally sports.”

Skoda Yeti Xtreme-001The Skoda CitiJet concept is a city cabriolet based on Skoda’s Citigo. This two seater concept is made by 16 apprentices in 6 months. Citijet features a 1.0 litre MPI petrol engine generating 74 hp. The interiors are made to look sporty, based on Citigo Sport special edition. It also hosts a 300 W sound system with music responsive blue LED lighting in the cabin.
