Smart ForTwo ready for 2013 Dakar Rally

The Smart FroTwo gets turned into a Rally Car as it gets set to participate in the 2013 Dakar Rally scheduled to commence from 5th January 2013 in Lima, Peru and will last 15 days as it ends in Santiago, Chile on January 20. Smartly modified, Smart ForTwo gets a new chassis and engine from the ATV Polaris XP900.

Lightweight body parts have been added while insides have been stripped completely to establish a racing seat, digital dashboard and roll cage. The vehicle has been fitted with a Smart ForTwo two cylinder gasoline engine offering 900cc displacement and output of 90 hp.

Capable and willing to compete in the 8000 kms course, the Smart ForTwo is highly capable due to its off road suspension and four wheel drive system. The creator’s website claims that this modified vehicle is in compliance with FIA regulations and weighs just 750 kgs. Due to its size the Smart will compete in the FIA lightweight buggy class.
