Daimler subsidiary – Smart have collaborated with Vectrix to bring out a new electric scooter into markets. This electric scooter which will make its way into mass markets by 2014, will be the joint collaboration between Smart and Vectrix and will resemble the smart fortwo, which was recently introduced. Slated for urban mobility, this electric scooter will be ideally suited for short distances, with a range upto 140 kms.
This zero emission electric scooter will enter production by 2014 and will be designed on similar lines as first Smart eScooter which was unveiled as a prototype at 2010 Paris Motor Show wherein the electric bike Smart eBike was also showcased along with SmartForTwo car. While eBike has already made its way into European markets and electric ForTwo car is introduced in US, Smart eScooter is being carefully designed by Smart and Vectrix, both of whom are experts in the field of electric mobility.
Vectrix was founded in 1996 in Rhode Island, USA. The company is well versed in construction of electric scooters for the past couple of years and expects this new eScooter to be the ultimate in electric mobility once it is launched.
