Managing Director and CEO of Hindustan Motors, Mr. Uttam Bose has been nominated as co-opted member of the executive company to the Society for Indian automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). This nomination comes at a time when the executive committee of SIAM was reconstituted with newly elected and co-opted members.

Mr. U. Bose has an experience of 26 years in the manufacturing sector and has been at the top of many companies in India, United Kingdom and West Asia. Embroiled in controversy, the West Bengal government has decided to consider amended agreements with Bata India in relation to the understatement of land prices mentioned to a private dealer. Based on the decisions of the land reforms department, finance and industry depart a decision will be made on the policy decision of Hindustan Motors on this case.

This tussle was initiated in the year 2006 when HM applied for the conversion of 300 acres of land to real estate to the Left Front Government. Based on allegation, the land was to be sold at 85 crores but it was sold at 289 crores which is an excess of more than 200 crores. Other than this, HM has been ordered to take up social responsibility projects in conjunction with the Bata India case.
