Sonalika Group next to launch passenger car after Force Motors India gives us Force One SUV (Photos)

The Sonalika Group, the leading automobile and agricultural machinery set up headed by Mr. L D Mittal is contemplating the idea of bringing out a passenger car for the Indian auto market. The car which is expected to be seen during the coming financial year is said to be a joint venture between Sonalika Group and Pininfarina, an Italian design house who will work together to see this project through. This passenger car will the first among two more such passenger vehicles which are being designed by the companies and are expected to be launched in the coming two years.

The company has allotted an initial investment of Rs. 500 crores to develop these luxury passenger cars, and expand operations in India. The Sonalika Group passenger cars will exhibit all expected qualities of a sedan and will be available at an advantageous cost due to its diesel option being fitted with a 2 liter diesel engine.  The two passenger cars which are expected will be an SUV and a sedan priced at Rs. 8 and Rs. 10 lakhs respectively.

Only recently Force Motors tread down this path by introducing their first passenger vehicle, the Force One SUV. Force Motors is using a Daimler engine, and has worked with Lotus Engineering to fine tune the SUV. To ensure that their first passenger vehicle is noticed, Force Motors has appointed superstar Amitabh Bachchan as the brand ambassador for the Force One SUV. Though the vehicle will be available at dealerships from 1st September 2011 on Ganesh Chaturthi, a good two weeks after the Force One SUV was officially launched at Mumbai.
