The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) has chosen BMW as the Official Automotive Partner to London 2012. This will see BMW supply a range of hybrids, Efficient Dynamic diesel cars, and electric vehicles for the event while alongside sticking to average CO2 emissions below the LOCOG target of 120g/km. BMW will also make available motorcycles, and bicycles.

BMW is making modifications to cars to meet their duties as the Official Automotive Partner of London 2012. A number of vehicles are being adapted, and modifications include left-foot throttles, steering balls, and push-pull hand controls for brake and accelerator on order to meet the needs of disabled volunteers.

Ellie Simmonds, a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) is a double Paralympic gold medalist received her MINI One Hatch, which has been specially adapted for her. The initiative upholds MINI's commitment as the biggest fan of TeamGB, and ParalympicsGB. The interior of her MINI features a false floor in the driver's foot well, and pedal extensions.

17-year old, Ellie Simmonds hails from Walsall, and spends her week training in Swansea, which entails quite a bit of traveling. She looks forward to the independence the specially adapted MINI One Hatch will bring forth. In her words, "I'm really enjoying being out on the road and my MINI is perfect – I can't wait to pass my test! It will be really great to be able to drive myself around and the support is really helping me to do that."
