Earlier today, LeftLaneNews managed to spy the next gen Shelby GT500 being tested at the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany. Powered by a 5.8L V8, the new Shelby GT500 is expected to be launched in US market by 2013.
Though the images here show the current gen Shelby GT500, under the hood is the next gen turbo charged monster. Look closely and you will be able to notice the all new extended intercooler in the left foglamp of Shelby GT500.
On the other hand, that is on the right foglamp, you will see a coverup in order to give the car a symmetrical look. Ford designers have just applied a tape to darken the area and removed the lamp to give a similar contrast.
You will also notice new cooling lines which probably act as an extended intercooling system, near the upper grille. Though a 5.8L V8 is on the cards, owing to rising fuel costs, Ford and Shelby might just install a 5.0L V8 in order to make the monster economical.
