As revealed in a previous post today, the Nano you see features an AMT gearbox. Interiors of this Nano can be seen here. It is not clear whether the Zest sedan in the image above is that of its AMT variant or a regular manual variant.
To be sold alongside the Tata Indigo, Zest will offer a refined and luxurious experience. Not only the engine, exteriors, and interiors are refined, but also is the overall setup including the suspensions of the Zest are improved. Designed with help from Tata’s design centre in Europe, Zest is developed with inputs from India’s former Formula 1 race driver, Narain Karthikeyan.
To be manufactured at Tata’s plant in Pune, Zest is a global car. It was recently displayed at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. To be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options, Zest will compete with the likes of Honda Amaze, Maruti DZire, and Hyundai Xcent.
Engine options on-board the new Zest will be in the form of Tata’s new 1.2l Revotron turbocharged petrol engine with 5 speed manual gearbox. Apart from this, there will be a diesel engine too on offer and this one will be offered with AMT option. No automatic gearbox will be on offer. Once launched, Tata Zest will become India’s most affordable automatic sedan.
