SsangYong Rexton, Rodius, and LIV-1 concept at Auto Expo

Two and half years of research and an investment of $165 million has gone towards development of SsangYong Rodius. This 11 seater vehicle made its presence felt at a public debut in Korea last year and is currently on sale in Europe, Africa, Russia and China. Rodius measures 5130mm in length, 1915mm in width and 1815mm in height. It is being offered in either 9, 10 or 11 seating options, while it gets 3 variants in the form of Luxury Touring, Grand Touring and Royal Touring.

Hinged doors on board the Rodius allow for easier ingress and egress while interiors sport a multimedia screen, multi function 4 spoke steering wheel, climate controls, cruise controls, sunroof and a host of infotainment features which include Bluetooth hands free function with USB and AUX connectivity.

LIV-1 Concept displayed by SsangYong adopts a 3S-Cube philosophy which combines elements of Smart Link, Safe Way and Special Sense for the vehicle so as to enable remote-controlling function with use of a smart device. This function not only works from interiors of the vehicle but also from its exteriors. Exterior styling is aggressive and sturdy while it will come in both with two wheel drive and four wheel drive with six speed manual transmissions or seven speed automatic transmission. The LIV-1 Concept will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options once it enters production.

Speaking about the SsangYong Rexton, this car is already on sale in India. It was launched in 2012 for a starting price of Rs 17.67 lakhs. Offered with their 2.7L five cylinder RX270XDi engine, generating 162 bhp @ 4000 rpm and 340 Nm @ 1800-3250 rpm for manual options and 2.7L five cylinder RX270 XVT generating max power of 184 bhp @ 4000 rpm and peak torque of 402 Nm torque @ 1600-3000 rpm for automatic.

The Rexton on display at the Auto Expo, is powered by the 2.0l engine, which is currently under study. To be offered as a 2WD option, this new 1998 cc engine delivers 153 PS and 360 Nm torque. Power is delivered via 5-speed E-Tronic automatic transmission. This version of Rexton has top speed of 175 kmph.
