In India, Harley Davidson Street 750 deliveries begin in March 2014. In the first month itself, HD India sold 126 units of the Street 750. Through April, 210 units of the Steet 750 were sold. This is when overall sales of HD India stood at 361 units. For a company which has sold about 2,000 motorcycles in 2013, these are big numbers.
Harley Davidson India has a lineup of 13 models, with Street 750 being the most affordable while it is locally produced along with Street 500 from the company plant in Bawal, Haryana. Local production will go full steam ahead in India from where the company will also commence export operations to Europe and South East Asian markets.
Local fabrication of fuel tanks and fenders will also be undertaken at Harley Davidson India plant while the company will also be conducting assembly of motorcycles at its CKD plant in Bawal exclusively for India. India is the second country after Brazil where the company has CKD operations outside of the US. Harley Davidson has a total of 13 dealerships spread across the length and breadth of India in New Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Indore, Pune, Goa and Jaipur.
