Supercars and Superheroes: The Avengers love their cars and bikes

The Avengers is the first Marvel film Disney has marketed since buying the venture in 2009 for a sum of $4.2 million. It has broken box office international records crossing more than $281 million overseas as on May 2, 2012. The Avengers sees cars from Acura, Honda Motor Company’s luxury division and has a number of customized version of MDX sports utility vehicle at a starting price of $43,000 besides a NSX concept car driven by Robert Downey Junior’s Tony Stark.

A Harley Davidson is also seen in the movie. This is a $15,500 FLS Softail Slim two wheeler ridden by Captain America played by Chris Evans. Seeing a supercar built around the first generation Acura NSX coupe is delightful. A peep into Tony Starks’ ride features the same interior and mid mounted V6 power plant as seen in the Honda Acura NSX.

The 2012 Softail Slim Harley Davidson is equipped with one piece round mirrors, black single sided softail swingarm bag and a fuel tank name plate. On opening night of The Avengers Harley received red carpet treatment. This is not the first time that you will see a Harley rub shoulders with the movie world. The company has been integrated with Marvel taking Harley Davidson bikes and the sport of Harley motorcycling to a wider audience. It is not just one movie but a long term project that the makers of Harley Davidson are contending with.
