A new study reveals that SUVs are favored by criminals. It was recorded that out of 110 criminal activities in the city of Chandigarh 75 of these involved miscreants being in sports utility vehicles.
One of the most recent such criminal activities involved a black Scorpio which was seized when a 29 year old Harminder Singh was murdered on January 12 outside Aroma Eating Joint in Sector 22. 8 persons who were connected to the murder fled from the scene of the crime but left behind their SUV.
In another incident involving an SUV, a driver under the influence of alcohol rammed his vehicle into a stationery police vehicle outside the same eatery on January 15. SUVs are also involved in a host of hit and run incidents in the city.
A city disco was the scene of crime at Sector 26 when youths rammed their white Range Rover into the rear of TAO Disco last year in September. The son of a well known builder from Mohali was arrested for this and the SUV in question has been seized.
