Suzuki Gixxer SF is 4 kgs heavier, brochure confirms new MotoGP Edition

Salman Khan unveiled the Gixxer 155 cc motorcycle back in January 2014. Now, more than a year later, Salman Khan is back astride the Gixxer, but this one is a bit different. Based on the original Gixxer 155 street motorcycle, Suzuki Motorcycles India are to launch Gixxer SF motorcycle on 7th January in New Delhi. It is on the leaked brochure of this new bike, where we see Salman Khan getting astride.

To feature the same 155 cc engine, mechanically Gixxer SF is same as Gixxer 155 street bike. The single cylinder air cooled engine delivers 14.8 PS power and 14 nm torque at 8,000 rpm and 6,000 rpm respectively. Mated to a five speed gearbox, this engine delivers an impressive mileage of 63.5 kmpl aboard the Gixxer street bike.

Featuring a full front fairing, Gixxer SF comes with added weight (139 kgs, 4 kgs more than Gixxer), which will probably affect its acceleration and top speed slightly. mileage too will be slightly reduced, but expect it to be above 60 kmpl. Where dimensions are concerned, they they remain unchanged, as Suzuki has not made any changes to the chassis or suspension setting. Even seats and handle bars remain unchanged. The only difference is height. Height is increased by 55 mm, thanks to the small transparent visor on the fairing.

Suzuki Gixxer SF will be offered in a choice of three colours – Black, Blue and White. Seeing the brochure, it seems like the blue colour variant will be called as Special MotoGP Edition.

All three colour options get decals across the tank and fairing, with contrasting alloy rim tape. Tyres and tank capacity also remain unchanged. Overall, the Gixxer SF does look sporty, but at the same time, Suzuki could have been a bit more innovative, rather than copying fairing from one of their superbikes.

More information will be revealed when the Gixxer SF is launched. For now, if you are interested, you can approach your nearby Suzuki dealer for booking the bike. Price is expected to be in the range of Rs 88-90,000, on-road Delhi.
