Suzuki Motorcycle India to increase dealer count to 1500, export Gixxer to Japan

Considering the ever increasing demand for sports bikes in Japan, Suzuki Gixxer 155cc, conceived and developed in India will be making its way to Japan.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan have announced plans of shipping the locally made 155cc Gixxer street and Gixxer SF fully faired motorcycle to Japan. This will be a very proud moment for Suzuki Motorcycle India, as they being the subsidiary, will be exporting a made in India motorcycle to parent country.

Suzuki Gixxer SF comes in a design that draws inspiration from Suzuki’s world class motorcycles like the GSX-R and Hayabusa. This decision was announced at the official launch of the new Gixxer SF yesterday. It follows rivals Yamaha who also export their 150cc R15 bikes to Japan.

To be exported to Japan by Suzuki Motorcycle Pvt. Ltd., Gixxer 155cc will be manufactured in India at Suzuki’s Indian plant in Manesar. Exports will commence following the company testing its appeal among the youth in the country as its showcases the Gixxer 155cc at 44th Tokyo Motor Show in October/November 8, 2015.

Apart from exporting the Gixxer, Suzuki Motorcycle India also revealed that they are going to increase their dealer network to 1,500 by March 2016. This means, they will almost double their network in less than a year. (Currently they have 800 dealers in India).

This addition of dealers will help Suzuki to continue their growth in India. Since launch in October last year, Gixxer street bike has managed to sell over 50,000 units; averaging about 6-7000 units a month. With new Gixxer SF now launched, the company hopes to achieve sales of 1 lakh units from the Gixxer nameplate annually.
