Suzuki WagonR 3 Row slated for launch later this year
To compete head on with entry level MPVs such as the Datsun Go+, Suzuki is launching the seven seater, three row version of Wagon R later this year. Suzuki’s 7 seater Wagon R 3 Row MPV is LCGC – Low Cost Green Car, which was showcased at 2013 Indonesian International Motor Show.
LCGC is to Indonesia what a sub 4 meter car is to India. These cars are bound by engine size of 1.2 liters with a fuel economy of over 20 kmpl while it India it is a sub 4 meter car that receives government favors. Taking on the Datsun Go+ which as on date is the only car of its kind in the LCGC segment, Suzuki Wagon R 3 Row seven seater will go on sale later this year.
Wagon R 3 Row concept is basically a stretched out version of the Wagon R with addition of a third row. In concept form, the upcoming WagonR seems to have plenty of head room and larger windows contributing to an airy and spacious cabin. However third row seats are only suited for children as the wheelbase has not been extended accordingly.
Where mechanics are concerned, the WagonR 3 Row could continue to be powered by a 1 liter 3 cylinder K Series petrol engine mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. WagonR hatchback has been one of the top selling hatchbacks in India. On an average, the company sells over 12,000 units of this hatchback which comes in with petrol, LPG and CNG options. The 3 Row variant of WagonR could prove to be a success, considering the increase in demand for three row affordable cars in India.
