Ford Motor Company has reached a major milestone in the manufacture of their super fuel efficient EcoBoost engine, which is available in India with EcoSport compact SUV. Launched in 2009, it was the two millionth engine that rolled off production lines at the company plant in Louisville, Kentucky. This engine will make its way into a Ford Escape.
100,000+ EcoBoost engines are produced each month with a target of 1.2 million for 2013, a 60% increase from 2012. It is expected that EcoBoost production will now exceed Ford‘s global diesel-engine production. 90% of Escape buyers in North America and 95% Kuga buyers in Asia are choosing EcoBoost. In diesel-centric Europe, 39% of Focus customers opt for EcoBoost.
The Vuhl 05 race inspired sports car is officially unveiled. At a price of £55,000 (plus tax, plus shipping), the vehicle is fitted with a 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine offering 285 hp and 2013 lb/ft torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in 3.7 seconds while a top speed is pegged at 245 kmph.
Ford has revealed their plans to offer new Tourneo Connect minivan with an all new engine option, in the form of their highly acclaimed and award winning 1.0L EcoBoost three cylinder engine.
