Renault-Nissan Alliance showcased a number of upcoming offerings at 2014 Auto Expo. The company has previewed Datsun Redi-Go Concept, Go hatchback and 7 seater Go+ MPV. Apart from this, they have also confirmed a new small car that will take on Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon and Chevrolet Spark in a segment that makes up for about 40-45% of the entire car market in India.
Following phenomenal success of the Renault Duster launched in India in early 2012, Renault is eager to enter lucrative MUV segment with a new three row variant, besides planning a sub INR 4 lakh car. These two new offerings will enable the company to not only leverage sales but also to substantially increase their market share in India.
India is now amongst the top 10 market for French car maker, Renault. Their market share has grown by 2% in just 1 year, thanks to their compact SUV, Duster. Over the next few years, Renault plans to launch 7-8 new cars in India, which will also include an entry level small car, which will help them make ‘tons of money’.
Bring in cheaper cars into India that will compete with both Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai seems to be the name of the game for Renault….
