Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced a host of new models for launch in India so as to augment their position in the auto sector. Though no details of what one can expect where these new launches are concerned, it is revealed that a new sedan is amongst those planned for launch.
Toyota, which currently sells Etios, Etios Liva, Fortuner and Innova in India and recently launched the Etios Cross and Corolla Altis sedan are making plans on bringing in the luxury brand Lexus into the country. The Japanese manufacturer is keen to compete with its German counterparts on a common platform and hence believe the time is ripe for launch of the premium brand of Lexus vehicles.
The management-employees standoff at Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s two plants at Bidadi came to an end on April 22 though the disagreement where wage renewal continues to be the bone of contention. But, in spite of that, Toyota has finally reported that their production is back to normalcy after a full month of production in May 2014.
Revealed in Brazil in November 2013, the Etios Cross from Toyota Motors will make its presence felt at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo in February. Slated to be sturdier and more rugged than Etios Liva hatchback, the new Etios Cross will add fresh appeal into the Toyota lineup in India.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors 6% sales decline in August 2013, 15,201 cars sold and new Camry hybrid launched
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has reported a 6% decline in total sales for the month of August. Total sales stood at 15,201 units during the past month as compared to 16,225 units in August 2012, while company exported 3,194 units of Etios series.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has reported sales to the tune of 13,805 units in June 2013, while in June 2012, the company had sold 17,140 units. This has led to a 19% sales decline in the past month. Domestic sales stood at 11,010 units during June 2013 as against 14,700 units in June 2012 while the company exported 2,795 units of Etios during the past month.
