Tata Motors subsidiary bags order for manufacturing Airbus A50 engine parts

TAL Manufacturing Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors has announced the receipt of an order of over $19 million. The company will be manufacturing and supplying Trent XWB and Trent 1000 aero engines to Rolls Royce.

Considering that the Trent XWB engine, the latest and most advanced machine in the Trent series, is solely manufactured for the Airbus A350 engines, this order from TAL will be thereby fit into the Airbus A350 engine.

Several global companies participated in the deal. But it was TAL Manufacturing Solutions that won the contract, which will run till 2022. During the course of the contract, TAL will be supplying engine parts for Trent XWB and Trent 1000 aero engines to Rolls Royce. Apart from this, the long term contract will surely benefit TAL to a great extent.

While gearing up to meet the demands of this order, India is quickly emerging as the chosen destination for procuring and manufacturing these aero space components. TAL which already has a large global network of customers adheres to stringent standards of manufacture, handling and distribution. Rajesh Khatri, executive director and CEO, TAL is honoured with this order, the signing of which has a special significance to the company.

Airbus A350

Rolls Royce Trent XWB is a series of turbofan jet engines which are developed from Trent 1000 and used exclusively in the Airbus A350. Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engine powers Boeing 787 Dreamliner when it made its maiden flight and first commercial flight. Trent XWBs are the most powerful engines as on date. Its fan blades can tackle weights upto 90 tonnes while the engine sucks up 1.5 tonnes of air per second. Due to increased demand, the company has stepped up production aiming to produce upto 1 Trent XWB engine per day by 2017.
