Tata car prices in India increased by Rs 12,000 – Nano and Aria price untouched

Earlier today, Tata Motors announced that they have increased prices of their cars by Rs 12,000, owing to high input costs. The price hike is already under effect since yesterday throughout the country. In a statement released by  Tata Motors, the said: "The high input costs have been impacting us for quite some time. We have decided to pass on some burden to our customers. The quantum of the hike will vary between Rs 7,000 and Rs 12,000 depending on the model." Somehow, newly launched Aria crossover SUV and Nano small car prices have been left unchanged.

Earlier in January this year, various car manufacturers in India increased the prices of their cars owing to increasing input costs. Maruti and Chevrolet car prices were hiked by upto Rs 17,000 while Toyota Motors increase prices of their cars by Rs 3,000 to Rs 15,000; depending on the model. But somehow, Toyota left prices of Captiva SUV, Optra, Aveo UVA, and Aveo untouched. Mahindra increased prices of XUV500 by Rs 55,000. Hyundai is yet to hike prices of their cars as they had already announced back in Dec 2011 that they would be increasing prices of their car by 1.5% – 2% in 2012.
