Tata Innovista 2014 awards were presented in 4 categories. Jaguar Land Rover shone bright in all 4 awarded categories. This included Promising Innovations, The Leading Edge – Proven Technologies, Dare To Try, and Design Honour. The Promising Innovations award for New Product innovations was presented to Jaguar Land Rover. JLR’s Active Driveline transverse four-wheel-drive (4WD) tech eliminates pretty much all driveline parasitic losses in the instance 4WD is not required.
Through steady driving conditions, 4WD disconnects, and 2WD pegs maximum efficiency. The system reduces driveline drag by decoupling 4WD during steady-state driving at speeds above 22 mph. As needed, 4WD reconnects within 300 milliseconds.
Active Torque Biasing runs on electronically controlled differential in distributing torque between rear wheels to optimise traction and stability. Torque Vectoring feature further enhances agility and safety as it redirects torque to all four wheels to eliminate understeer.
JLR’s Active Driveline transverse four-wheel-drive (4WD) betters fuel economy and reduces CO2 emissions without sacrificing on off-road capabilities. New Active Driveline system with active differentials and torque vectoring has debuted in the 2014 Range Rover Evoque as standard across all variants.
