Report: Tata MD Karl Slym committed suicide after argument with wife
Karl Slym, Managing Director of Tata Motors India Unit was in Bangkok to attend a board meeting. He was due to return to India on Sunday. But, on the same day, his body was found on the ledge on fourth floor of the Shangri-La Hotel, in which he was staying with his wife. Thai Police claim that Mr Slym might have committed suicide due to domestic problems with his wife.
Somyot Boonyakaew, Chief Investigator on the case, told PTI that Slym could have committed suicide after reading the three page note which was written by his wife Sally Slym. Investigations reveal, that earlier Saturday evening, Sally had written the note, placed it on a desk in the room near Slym’s computer and went to bed. She woke up later to find Slym sitting on a sofa after which she went to sleep again only to be woken by hotel staff in the morning to be told of his death.
Sally has not been named as a suspect and police have ruled out murder as there was no sign of struggle nor was anything broken in the hotel room. It is also not sure whether Slym had read Sally’s note or not prior to him taking this drastic step. The contents of the note are being kept confidential for obvious reasons. (via)
