Tata Motors and Ford India post marginal decline in sales for July 2015

Tata Motors total domestic sales during the past month saw a decline by 1%, at 35,076 units as against 35,266 units sold in July 2014. Passenger vehicle YoY sales increased to 10,389 units as compared to 9,167 units sold in July 2014.

Tata Nano GenX AMT, Bolt and Zest have not had the desired effect on the overall sales figures of Tata Motors.

Total sales of the company taking passenger and commercial vehicles into account stood at 40,154 units in July 2015, an increase of 1% as against 39,629 units sold in July 2014. Strong demand was seen where sales of Zest, Bolt and GenX Nano were concerned while a 24 percent decline was noted in UV sales which stood at 1,869 units in July 2015.

In the commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors M-HCV sales increased by 21% to 11,808 units in July 2015 while Light and Small Commercial Vehicle sales declined by 21 percent to 12,879 units. This decline caused an adverse impact on overall CV sales to a total of 24,687 units, a 5% decline as compared to sales in July 2014.

Exports in July 2015 stood at 5,078 units, an increase of 16% as compared to 4,363 units exported in July 2014. Tata Motors also noted a 27% increase in exports this fiscal which stood at 18,588 units as against 14,590 units exported last year.

Ford Figo Aspire will be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options.

Speaking about sales of Ford India, the company reported a decline in sales of a little over 14%. But, the company is confident of posting positive sales once they launch the three new cars which are planned for this fiscal – Figo Aspire, Endeavour, and Figo hatchback. Of the three, it will be the Ford Figo Aspire which will be launched first, in the coming days. Bookings for the same have already opened.
