Tata Motors global sales plunge 16% in September 2013
Leading automakers Tata Motors have reported a 16% drop in global sales during the month of September 2013. This was after taking into account sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the same period. During the past month, the company sold a total of 87,316 units as against 103,656 units in the same month in the previous year,
It was particularly in the commercial vehicle segment that Tata Motors received diminished demand. Sales of commercial vehicles of Tata Motors, Tata Daewoo and Tata Hispano Carrocera brands during September 2013 stood at 38,049 units as against 54,761 units sold in September 2012. Cumulative commercial vehicle wholesales for the fiscal stood at 237,207 units.
Sales of passenger vehicles on the other hand increased marginally from 48,895 units in September 2012 to 49,267 units in September 2013. Cumulative passenger vehicle wholesales for the fiscal were 266,680 units. Global wholesales of Jaguar and Land Rover models also saw a significant increase from 26,461 units delivered in September 2012 to 35,874 units delivered in September 2013. Jaguar wholesales were 6,438 units in September 2013 while cumulative wholesales stood at 37,411 units. Land Rover wholesales in September 2013 were 29,436 units while cumulative wholesales were at 155,140 units. Cumulative wholesales for Jaguar Land Rover for the fiscal were at 192,551 units.
