The momentous occasion was for delivery of its first advanced composite floor beam (ACFB) for a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Production was in collaboration with Boeing by TAL at its MIHAN SEZ Nagpur facility.
Chairman, Mr R.S Thakur, Mr John Byrne – Vice President, Aircraft Materials and Structures, Supplier Management, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), and Mr Jay Campbell – Managing Director, International Business Development, BCA, were present.
Boeing India – President, Mr Pratyush Kumar termed it a major milestone for Boeing and TAL, as also India. The AFCB reflects highly advanced composite manufacturing thereby strengthening India’s stand in Boeing’s global supply chain network.
Rajesh Khatri, Executive Director & CEO, TAL thanked Boeing Team for its support. Production will be increased to meet Boeing requirements through a centre of excellence for aerospace in India.
Mr Kent Fisher, Vice President and General Manager of BCA Supplier Management was pleased with TAL’s progress in a short period of time. Roughly 5 years to transform its freen field site at MIHAN, SEZ into an aerospace manufacturing facility with sophisticated aero structures. Employment opportunities for more than 200 persons have been created already. TAl is capable of ramping up production for 787-9 floor beams to be shipped to Boeing partners in Italy, Japan and the United States.
