Tata Motors MD, Mr. Carl Peter Forster announced in front of media reporters today that Tata Motors wants to see more cars in India under the Fiat brand. He said, "We are currently looking at strengthening the Fiat brand name in the Indian market. We plan to expand the Fiat product range and the sales and marketing team."
With the increase in sales of Jaguar and Land Rover, it was decided earlier that Tata Motors will bring the production and manufacturing unit for these brands to India. Now it seems that, its Tata's time to return the favour. Tata Motors, which has a 50:50 partnership with Fiat Motors for distribution and operating as Fiat Automobiles in India.
Currently Tata helps Fiat by assembling Punto, Linea and Palio models at a unit near Ranjangaon. This unit has a capacity of manufacturing 3 lakh engines and 2 lakh vehicles annually.
